About the X5 G05
BMW went bigger again with the G05 X5 and this time the interior caught up with the exterior's ambitions. The B58 in the 40i made 335 hp, the S58 in the X5 M Competition hit 617 hp. A three-row SUV running low 3-second sprints to 60. The air suspension was standard on higher trims, and it transformed the ride from firm BMW to genuinely comfortable. The 12.3-inch screens ran iDrive 7 with gesture control that nobody used and voice control that actually worked. Laser headlights cut through darkness like high beams without blinding oncoming traffic. The off-road package added air suspension, a locking rear diff, and underbody protection for buyers who might eventually see a dirt road. Most wouldn't. The G05 was BMW's most complete SUV and the one that proved the X5 format was permanent.
