About the Malibu 6th Gen

The sixth-gen Malibu lasted only three years between 2004 and 2007, making it one of the shortest-lived generations in the nameplates history. Built on the Epsilon platform shared with the Saab 9-3, it actually drove better than most people expected — the European bones showed through in the chassis tuning. The 3.5 V6 was smooth and adequately powerful. The problem was the interior, which still felt a generation behind Honda and Toyota. GM knew it, too — the quick replacement cycle told the story of a car that was almost good enough but not quite.
