About the Malibu 7th Gen
The seventh-gen Malibu arrived in 2008 and immediately earned respect that previous generations had to beg for. Motor Trend named it Car of the Year, and for once, the award did not feel charitable. The 2.4 Ecotec four-cylinder was efficient, the ride was composed, and the interior finally felt competitive with the Camry and Accord. GM was in bankruptcy proceedings during this cars prime, which meant a genuinely good Malibu got lost in headlines about bailouts. Wrong car, wrong time, right execution.
