About the Silverado GMT900
GM rebuilt the Silverado from scratch for 2007, and the GMT900 was the result. Fully boxed hydroformed frame, coil-over front suspension replacing the old torsion bars, and a 5.3-liter Vortec V8 making 315 hp with Active Fuel Management that cut to four cylinders on cruise. Ride quality jumped a full class. The cabin finally felt like a place designed for humans rather than an afterthought bolted to a truck frame. Towing hit 10,500 pounds. The 6.2-liter V8 in higher trims made 403 hp, genuine muscle car territory in a full-size truck. Z71 handled off-road, LTZ handled luxury. GM sold millions because the GMT900 was the first Silverado that didn't ask you to compromise anything for capability.
