About the F-150 8th Gen

The eighth-gen F-150 ran from 1987 to 1991 and was the truck that cemented Ford's dominance. The 5.0 Windsor V8 made 185 hp, the 5.8 pushed to 210 hp, and the 300 inline-six was the engine that fleet managers ordered because it ran forever on regular maintenance. Twin I-beam front suspension, live rear axle, body-on-frame. The formula hadn't changed because it didn't need to. The interior was utilitarian in the best sense. Vinyl seats that cleaned with a hose, a column shifter, and gauges that told you what you needed to know. The SuperCab added rear-facing jump seats that kids loved and adults tolerated. Ford sold these to farmers, contractors, and commuters in equal measure. The eighth gen was the last F-150 before things got complicated.
