About the Accord 3rd Gen
Third-gen Accord, and Honda was starting to hit its stride. The 1985 redesign brought pop-up headlights, double-wishbone front suspension, and the A20A 2.0-liter making 110 hp in the US. Fuel injection arrived on the carbureted models' replacement, and the difference in drivability was immediate. The body grew just enough to feel like a proper mid-sizer without losing the Accord's light, precise character. The hatchback Aerodeck was handsome. The coupe was new and sold well. Honda was building interiors that felt a decade ahead of the price in 1986. Fit, finish, switch gear — everything had a quality of action that made you wonder what Toyota and Nissan were doing with their time. The third-gen Accord was Honda earning its reputation one detail at a time.
