About the Accord CR

Ninth-gen Accord, and Honda bet on the four-cylinder. The CR got the K24W making 185 hp with Earth Dreams direct injection, paired with a CVT that Honda tuned to behave like an actual transmission. The V6 stayed for the coupe and touring, 278 hp from the J35Y, but the writing was on the wall. The four was good enough that most buyers didn't miss the six. Chassis stiffness went up 27 percent over the CU. You could feel it in the first corner. The coupe with the V6 and six-speed manual was the enthusiast's choice and Honda sold approximately none of them compared to the sedan. LaneWatch camera replaced the blind spot mirror. Weird? Yes. Effective? Also yes. The CR won Car of the Year again because Honda kept doing the work.
