About the Accord CU

The eighth-gen Accord went big on efficiency without losing the driving character Honda was known for. The CU got the 2.4-liter K24 making 177 hp and a new coupe body that looked genuinely aggressive. But the real move was the four-cylinder eating into V6 territory on performance while burning less fuel. The V6 was still there, 271 hp from the J35, and in coupe form with a six-speed manual it was one of the best front-drivers you could buy. Honda cut weight where they could and added sound insulation where they couldn't. The result was a mid-sizer that rode better than the previous gen but still turned in sharp. Won Car of the Year. Deserved it.
