About the Civic FD

The eighth-generation Civic went on sale in America for 2006 with a two-tier instrument layout and one engine for the mainstream cars: a 1.8 with SOHC i-VTEC and 140 hp, replacing fours of 115 and 127 hp. DX, LX and EX models had a five-speed manual or a five-speed automatic, and anti-lock brakes became standard on every model. The Si moved to a 197 hp 2.0 with a six-speed manual and a limited-slip differential, and the Hybrid made 110 hp combined. Europe sold a separate hatchback instead. In Japan this sedan became the 225 PS FD2 Type R in 2007. Styling was freshened for 2009, and the generation ran to 2011.
