About the Elantra XD

The XD Elantra arrived in 2000 and asked a fair question: why pay more for less car? Hyundai loaded it with a 10-year powertrain warranty, a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with competitive output, and an equipment list that shamed the base Civic. The styling was anonymous by design — this was not the generation for taking risks. What it did was build the reliability track record that Hyundai desperately needed. Every XD that hit 200,000 kilometers without drama was a walking advertisement. Slow credibility, built one odometer at a time.
