About the Tucson JM

The JM Tucson was Hyundais first dedicated compact SUV, launched in 2004 with the confidence of a brand that had nothing to lose. The 2.7 V6 delivered 173 horsepower through available AWD, and the ride was surprisingly composed for a first attempt. Styling was conservative but inoffensive — Hyundai was not yet ready to make bold design statements. What mattered was the price. A well-equipped JM Tucson cost thousands less than a comparable RAV4 or CR-V, and for many buyers, that math was all that mattered.
