About the Tucson TL
The TL Tucson was the one where Hyundai figured out design. The cascading grille, the sculpted body sides, the LED DRLs that looked like they belonged on something more expensive. The 2.0-liter Nu GDI made 155 hp, the 1.6 turbo hit 175 hp, and diesel options covered the European market. The chassis was compliant and comfortable, biased toward refinement over sportiness. HTRAC AWD worked well in bad weather without demanding attention. The interior was clean and functional, with an available 8-inch touchscreen and enough soft-touch surfaces that it felt competitive with the segment leaders. The TL sold over 1.7 million units globally because it looked good, drove fine, and cost less than the RAV4 and CR-V while giving you more standard equipment.
