About the Countach LP400
Sixteen years, five variants, one silhouette. The Countach started as a concept so extreme that Bertone reportedly exclaimed "countach!" (Piedmontese for astonishment) when they first saw Gandini's clay model. The name stuck. The LP400 original was a 375 hp razor at barely a ton. As the years rolled, displacement grew from 4.0 to 5.2 liters, fender flares widened, and that rear wing appeared. The 5000 QV added four-valve heads and six Weber carburetors. The 25th Anniversary got a Horacio Pagani restyle that cleaned up the aging aerodynamics. Through every revision, the car kept its fundamental character: loud, wide, and completely indifferent to practicality.
