About the RX-7 FB (SA22C)
The original. Mazda crammed a 12A twin-rotor Wankel engine into a lightweight rear-drive chassis and sold it for less than a Datsun 280Z. At 1,080 kg, the FB was a flyweight. The 12A made 105 hp, which sounds modest until you realize the engine weighed less than a set of golf clubs. The FB taught a generation that displacement didn't matter if the car was light enough and the engine was willing.
