About the E-Class W211
The W211 E-Class arrived with twin headlights that split opinion and a build quality that split from Mercedes tradition. Early models had more electrical gremlins than any Mercedes should. The facelift fixed most of them and added the kind of refinement the nameplate demanded. The E55 AMG with the supercharged 5.4-liter V8 made 476 hp and could outrun sports cars while carrying four adults in climate-controlled silence. The W211 wasn't Mercedes' finest moment in quality. But the AMG variants were some of their fastest.
