About the E-Class W212
The W212 E-Class was Mercedes getting serious again after the W211's reliability stumbles. Dual-spring front suspension, direct-injection four-cylinder and V6 options, and a 7G-TRONIC transmission that finally felt sorted. The facelift in 2013 brought the quad headlights back and cleaned up the interior with the tablet-style COMAND screen. The E63 AMG got the M157 twin-turbo V8, 550 hp in S trim, and biturbo torque that could light up all four tires through the 4MATIC system. As a daily executive sedan, the W212 hit the sweet spot. Comfortable without being numb, fast enough in six-cylinder form, and built well enough that six-figure-mile examples still feel tight. Mercedes fixed what the W211 broke.
