The C124 coupe took the W124's engineering and removed the B-pillar, creating a pillarless hardtop that was structurally stiffer than it had any right to be. With all four windows down, the roofline flowed uninterrupted from windshield to rear glass — a design detail that modern safety regulations have made impossible to replicate. The 300CE with the M103 inline-six was the sweet spot: smooth, refined, and understated. The 300CE-24 with the M104 24-valve six added a sportier edge. The AMG 3.4 was the one for the true enthusiast — a naturally aspirated six tuned to perfection.
