The S124 estate is the W124 in its most practical and arguably most desirable form. The same over-engineered body, the same bulletproof drivetrains, but with a cargo area large enough to move furniture and a self-leveling rear suspension that kept the wagon flat regardless of load. The 300TE with the M103 inline-six was the default family hauler for European professionals. The 300TE 4MATIC added all-wheel drive for Alpine winters. The E500 Limited — a wagon version of the Porsche-built sedan — was never officially produced, but AMG and independent builders created the unicorns that collectors now chase.
