About the SVX CX

There's only one SVX generation, and there was only ever going to be one. Subaru spent the money to do it once and the market told them not to do it again. The CX chassis was unique to the SVX — longer wheelbase than the Legacy, wider track, and a suspension geometry tuned for high-speed stability rather than canyon carving. Giugiaro's glass canopy meant fixed rear quarter windows and side glass that dropped only halfway. It looked like nothing else on the road. Still doesn't. The EG33 flat-six was smooth, quiet, and made its power without a turbo — unusual discipline from a company that force-fed everything else. 230 hp and 309 Nm through a 4-speed auto and AWD. Comfortable, composed, and completely out of step with the 90s sport coupe playbook.
