About the MR2 1.6 16v (130 Hp) RWD
The 4A-GE is one of Toyota's greatest engines, and the W10 was its perfect home. 130 hp from 1.6 liters naturally aspirated, with a redline north of 7,500 RPM and a willingness to rev that made it feel like a motorcycle engine in a car chassis. Mounted behind the seats in a 1,060 kg body, the 4A-GE gave the MR2 a power-to-weight ratio that embarrassed anything in its price class. The five-speed manual had the short, precise throws of a go-kart. This was the MR2 in its purest form — no turbos, no complications, just a great engine in a great chassis.
