About the Golf GTI Mk8

The Mk8 GTI is the quickest of the line and the most argued about. It launched in 2020 with 245 PS and 370 Nm in Europe, 241 hp and 273 lb-ft in the US, and a new vehicle dynamics manager linking the XDS+, the front differential lock and the optional DCC dampers. The arguments were about the cabin, where touch sliders and touch surfaces replaced buttons. The 2024 update put physical buttons back on the steering wheel, raised European output to 265 PS, kept North American cars at 241 hp and dropped the manual. The Clubsport makes 300 PS. The 2026 Edition 50 makes 325 PS, the most powerful production GTI so far.
