About the Golf Mk6

The Mk6 Golf was the facelift the Mk5 didn't need but got anyway. Same PQ35 platform underneath, refined everywhere that mattered. The GTI gained a few horsepower and lost a few rough edges. The DSG got smoother. The interior got quieter. Critics called it a Mk5.5, and they weren't wrong — but that's not an insult when the Mk5 was already excellent. The R came with 270 hp and all-wheel drive, turning the Golf into something that could embarrass cars twice its price. The Mk6 didn't try to be exciting. It just was.
