VW finally gave the Jetta its own identity with the Mk7. No more rebodied Golf — the 2018 redesign rides on the MQB platform but wears a longer, wider, more deliberately sedan-shaped skin. The interior went upmarket with available digital cockpit and ambient lighting, while the 1.4 turbo four delivers solid efficiency. In North America, where sedans are fighting extinction, the Mk7 Jetta makes the case that the segment still has a pulse. Competitive pricing helps. German engineering at Korean prices.
