QUATTRO 10V
About the Quattro 10V
The original Quattro — the car that started it all. A 2.1-liter (later 2.2-liter) turbocharged inline-five with 200 hp, permanent all-wheel drive, and a reputation forged in rally stages across every surface the WRC could throw at it. The ten-valve five-cylinder had a distinctive offbeat warble that became the Quattro's signature sound. Turbo lag was substantial — nothing happened below 3,000 RPM, then the car launched like it had been kicked. The all-wheel-drive system used a manually lockable center differential that sent power to whichever axle needed it. The interior was pure 1980s Audi: blocky, functional, and built to survive. Digital boost gauges glowed amber in the dark. The steering was heavy at parking speeds and communicative at rally speeds. The Quattro was not a refined car. It was an effective one.
