About the 5 Series E60
The E60 5 Series was Chris Bangle's controversial design statement. The "flame surfacing" split opinion, and BMW fans with internet access made sure everyone knew it. Get past the looks and the E60 was the most capable 5 Series yet. The 530i and 535i turbos were excellent daily drivers. The M5 got a 5.0-liter V10 from a Formula 1 fever dream — 507 hp with an 8,250 rpm redline in an executive sedan. iDrive was new and terrible. The engine was new and brilliant. The E60 aged better than anyone expected.
