About the 5 Series
The 5 Series is BMW's answer to a question only German engineers would ask: what if a luxury sedan could also be a driver's car? Since 1972, the 5 Series has split the difference between the 3 Series's athleticism and the 7 Series's comfort — and in most generations, it found the sweet spot better than either. The E39 is the one enthusiasts won't shut up about, and for good reason: the M5 hid a 394 hp S62 V8 under the most understated body in its class. It looked like a car for accountants and drove like a car for racing drivers. The E60 was polarizing. The F10 was competent. The G30 leaned harder into technology. Through it all, the 5 Series remained the executive sedan that could hold its own on a B-road after the board meeting ended. On Revnut, the 5 Series generations compete for a title the E39 has held for twenty-five years.
