About the M3 F80
The fifth M3 was the first with turbos and the first sold only as a sedan: the coupe and convertible became the M4. Launched in 2014, the F80 used the S55, a 3.0-litre twin-turbo straight-six with 431 PS from 5,500 to 7,300 rpm and 550 Nm from 1,850 rpm, roughly 40 percent more torque than the V8 it replaced. US cars were rated at 425 hp. BMW took around 80 kg out against a comparably equipped predecessor, using a carbon roof, a one-piece carbon propeller shaft and aluminium suspension parts. A six-speed manual was standard and a seven-speed M-DCT optional. The 2016 '30 Jahre M3' edition, 500 cars with 450 PS, marked the anniversary. It left the German price list in May 2018.
