The F80 M3 was the first turbocharged M3, and purists lost their minds. The S55 twin-turbo inline-six made 431 hp with 550 Nm of torque available from 1,850 rpm. The power delivery was relentless in a way that the old naturally aspirated cars never were. The six-speed manual survived - barely - while the DCT handled shifts faster than human reflexes allowed. Carbon fiber roof, forged wheels, and adaptive dampers made this the most technologically advanced M3 to date. The sound? Divisive. The speed? Not.
