About the Camaro 2nd Gen
The 2nd Gen Camaro started as a sleek, European-influenced redesign and ended as a smog-era survivor held together by vinyl and compromise. The early split-bumper models with big-blocks are the ones collectors want — 375 hp from a 396 or 402, with styling that still looks right fifty years later. Then emissions regulations arrived and the power evaporated. By 1975, the base model made 105 hp. The Z/28 kept the spirit alive through the lean years. The 2nd Gen lasted twelve years because GM kept updating it just enough to survive.
