About the Camaro 3rd Gen
The third-gen Camaro showed up in 1982 wearing a shape that looked fast and spent two decades proving it could be. The Crossfire V8 in early cars was embarrassing, 165 hp from a 5.0-liter, but GM course-corrected with the Tuned Port Injection 350 making 230 hp by 1987. The IROC-Z was the one everyone remembers. Lowered, flared, with handling that caught Corvette owners off guard. The 1LE package turned it into a legitimate road racer that dominated SCCA Showroom Stock. Inside, it was the '80s. T-tops, digital dash, questionable ergonomics. The third gen lasted ten years, survived two fuel crises, a horsepower drought, and an insurance apocalypse. The ones with the LT1 from '93-'02 in the fourth gen weren't this chassis, but the TPI cars are climbing in value. Finally.
