About the Corvette 5.7 V8 LS1 (350 Hp) RWD
The LS1 changed everything. Aluminum block, cathedral port heads, 350 hp from 5.7 liters with a single cam and pushrods. Simple, reliable, and endlessly tunable. The C5 wrapped it in a hydroformed frame that weighed less than a Miata's. At 1,460 kg, the base C5 was faster than every Corvette before it and cheaper to maintain than all of them. The car that convinced the world to take the Corvette seriously again.
