The J400 Cruze arrived in 2016 as a sharper, lighter, more refined replacement for the car that had revived Chevrolets compact sedan credibility. Built on the D2XX platform, it dropped over 100 kilograms compared to the outgoing model while gaining interior space and tech. The 1.4 turbo four was the volume engine, delivering solid efficiency with enough torque to feel responsive. The hatchback variant added genuine style. GM pulled the plug in 2019 as sedan demand collapsed, cutting short what was genuinely the best Cruze they ever built.
