About the Cruze
The Cruze was Chevrolet's attempt to prove that an American compact sedan could compete with the Civic and Corolla on their own terms. The first generation arrived in 2008 as a global platform — sold as the Holden Cruze in Australia, the Daewoo Lacetti Premiere in Korea, and a half-dozen other names across forty markets. In the US, it replaced the Cobalt and immediately felt like a generation leap: quieter, better built, and with a turbocharged 1.4L option that gave it a character the Cobalt never had. The second-generation Cruze refined the formula with a diesel option and a hatchback body style, but GM pulled the plug in 2019 as the sedan market collapsed under the weight of crossovers. The Cruze didn't get to grow old. It got to be competent, affordable, and then discontinued. On Revnut, the community ranks whether the Cruze earned its place or just rented it.
