About the Equinox 2nd Gen
The second-gen Equinox arrived in 2009 and immediately felt more car-like than the truck-based original. Built on the Theta platform, it offered a 2.4 Ecotec four-cylinder or a 3.0 V6 with available AWD. The interior was spacious and well-organized, with a sliding rear seat that added versatility. Fuel economy improved dramatically over the first generation, and the ride was comfortable enough for long highway trips. The second-gen Equinox was the one that moved Chevrolet from also-ran to genuine contender in the compact SUV segment.
