About the Silverado K2XX

GM's answer to the aluminum F-150, and they answered with steel. The K2XX Silverado arrived in 2014 with a fully boxed frame, a new EcoTec3 V8 lineup, and cylinder deactivation that shut down half the engine on the highway. The 5.3-liter L83 made 355 hp and got better fuel economy than the outgoing 5.3 by a wide margin. Direct injection, variable valve timing, and active fuel management all working together. Towing maxed at 12,000 pounds properly equipped. The interior caught up to Ford but didn't pass it. Fit and finish was better than any previous Silverado by a clear margin. The Z71 off-road package and the High Country luxury trim expanded the lineup into territory GM hadn't competed in before.
