About the Viper
Dodge asked Lamborghini (which they owned at the time) to help build a V10 engine, dropped it in a fiberglass roadster with no roof, no door handles, and no electronic driver aids, and called it the Viper. It was the most irresponsible car sold in America, and that was the entire point. Three generations, 25 years, and the formula never wavered: a massive naturally aspirated V10 behind a long hood, rear-wheel drive, manual gearbox, and an interior that suggested Dodge spent the budget on displacement instead of leather. The RT/10 was a death wish with wheels. The GTS won at Le Mans. The ACR set lap records that stood for years. The Viper was never refined, never comfortable, and never boring.
