About the Mustang Mustang II
The Mustang II is the generation nobody wants to claim but everyone should respect. Ford built it in 1974 because the oil crisis demanded a smaller, lighter pony car — and it sold 385,993 units in its first year, outselling the original 1965 launch. Based on the Pinto platform with available V8 power, it was a compromise by design. The King Cobra package tried to inject muscle-car attitude back into the equation. History has not been kind to the Mustang II, but the sales numbers tell a different story than the forum opinions.
