About the CR-V RE

The RE generation CR-V arrived in 2006 and made one decisive change: it dropped the spare tire from the tailgate. That single decision modernized the entire design, giving it a cleaner rear end and a wider tailgate opening. The 2.4 i-VTEC four-cylinder was strong and refined, and the real-time AWD system worked transparently. Inside, Honda maximized every cubic centimeter — the flat-folding rear seats created a genuinely useful cargo floor. This was the CR-V that proved compact SUVs could replace sedans for mainstream buyers.
