About the CR-V

The CR-V is the car that taught Honda how to sell crossovers — and eventually outsell the Civic. The first generation arrived in 1995 as a compact SUV built on the Civic platform, back when "crossover" wasn't a word anyone used yet. It had a folding picnic table in the cargo area, real-time AWD, and the kind of Honda reliability that made it the default recommendation for anyone who asked "what should I buy?" By the third generation, the CR-V was Honda's best-selling model in North America. By the fifth, it was outselling the Civic globally. The formula never changed much: practical, efficient, reliable, and just boring enough that nobody ever complained about it. The sixth generation added a hybrid powertrain and styling that finally gave the CR-V something resembling personality. On Revnut, the CR-V generations compete for a different kind of title — the one where being sensible is the whole point.
