About the Fit GD
Honda invented the subcompact segment with the first-gen Fit and the GD was where it started. Magic Seat technology let you fold, flip, and reconfigure the rear seats into configurations that made moving-van owners jealous. The 1.3-liter i-DSI made 86 hp in base form, the 1.5 i-VTEC pushed to 109 hp in the Sport. CVT or five-speed manual, and the manual felt like Honda put real engineers on it. Center-mounted fuel tank was the trick that unlocked all the interior space. The GD weighed under 1,050 kg and drove with a lightness that bigger cars couldn't replicate. It won Japanese Car of the Year and every subcompact comparison test for three straight years. Honda proved that small didn't mean compromised.
