About the Santa Fe DM

Third-gen Santa Fe, and Hyundai finally built a mid-size SUV that didn't need the price discount to justify the purchase. The 2.4 GDI made 185 hp, the 2.0 turbo hit 264 hp, and a 3.3 V6 pushed to 290 hp for markets that wanted it. The chassis was compliant and comfortable, tuned for family duty rather than canyon carving. HTRAC AWD worked transparently in bad weather. The Sport variant added a more aggressive look with a separate front fascia and unique interior. Seven-passenger seating made it competitive with the Highlander and Pilot. Interior quality was good, the touchscreen worked, and the driving position felt natural. The DM Santa Fe sold well because Hyundai had finally built enough trust that the badge wasn't a conversation. It was just a good SUV.
