About the Rio DC

The DC Rio was Kias entry-level offering from 2000 to 2005 — a car built to hit a price point and little else. The 1.5 and 1.6 four-cylinder engines delivered adequate power, and the interior was functional in the most generous interpretation of the word. Build quality was a known weakness, and the driving experience was strictly utilitarian. But the DC served its purpose: it got Kia into dealerships, it got first-time buyers into new cars, and it established the volume base that allowed Kia to invest in better vehicles later.
