About the Rio JB

The JB Rio arrived in 2005 and represented a significant step forward from the forgettable first generation. Sharing a platform with the Hyundai Accent, it offered a 1.6 four-cylinder with 110 horsepower and a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic. The styling was inoffensive and the interior was functional. What mattered was the price-to-content ratio — the JB Rio offered ABS, air conditioning, and power everything at a price point where competitors were still treating those as options.
