About the Sorento UM

Third-gen Sorento, and Kia moved it onto a unibody platform that transformed how it drove. The 2.0 turbo made 240 hp, the 3.3 V6 hit 290 hp, and a 2.2 CRDi diesel covered European markets. The chassis was comfortable and composed, a genuine family hauler that didn't embarrass itself on a twisty road. Third-row seating stayed for the seven-passenger pitch. The interior was a step up with available Nappa leather, a Harman Kardon audio system, and a panoramic sunroof. The UM Sorento was the generation that made people cross-shop it against the Highlander without needing the price justification. Kia delivered more standard equipment at a lower price and the quality gap was closing fast. The badge was the only remaining objection, and fewer buyers cared about that every year.
