About the Sorento XM

The XM Sorento moved Kia firmly into the three-row midsize SUV segment between 2009 and 2014. Built on a unibody platform shared with the Hyundai Santa Fe, it offered a 2.4 GDI four-cylinder or a 3.5 V6 with available AWD. The interior quality jumped noticeably from the previous generation — soft-touch materials appeared where hard plastic used to live. Peter Schreigers design language gave it a face that people remembered. The XM was the Sorento that made Americans consider Kia for the family hauler slot.
