About the Diablo
The Countach was the poster. The Diablo was the car that actually had to drive. Lamborghini needed a successor that could compete with Ferrari on a track, not just on a teenager's bedroom wall. The Diablo delivered: 492 hp from a 5.7-liter V12, a genuine 325 km/h top speed, and enough presence to stop traffic in any city on earth. It was the first Lamborghini to crack 200 mph, and it did it without turbochargers or all-wheel drive. The model evolved dramatically over eleven years. The VT added AWD and viscous traction. The SV stripped weight and revived the Super Veloce badge from the Miura. The final VT 6.0 pushed the engine to six liters and 550 hp before handing the V12 baton to the Murciélago. Through it all, the Diablo stayed raw in a way its competitors couldn't match. Ferrari was getting refined. Lamborghini was getting louder.
