About the Diablo VT

The Diablo's development was messy. Gandini drew it, Chrysler (who owned Lamborghini at the time) smoothed it out, and purists howled. None of that mattered once you heard the 5.7-liter V12 clear its throat at 4,000 rpm. Across eleven years the Diablo went from a raw rear-drive weapon to a sophisticated AWD grand tourer, gaining viscous traction, ABS, power steering, and eventually a six-liter engine. The SV went the other direction: rear-drive only, less weight, more aggression. By the time the VT 6.0 arrived as the farewell edition, the Diablo had become something Lamborghini rarely achieves: mature.
