About the RX-7 FD
The FD is a top-five beautiful car from any country, any era. The sequential twin-turbo 13B-REW made 280 hp (the gentleman's agreement number, again), weighed 1,260 kg, and had a front-midship engine layout that gave it near-perfect 50/50 weight distribution. The body had no straight lines. Every panel curved into the next. It got faster over its 11-year run: the Spirit R in 2002 was the final edition, limited to 1,500 units with Bilstein dampers, BBS wheels, and red Recaro seats. The FD was the last RX-7 and the last rotary-powered sports car Mazda built. When it died, the Wankel dream died with it.
