The G63 AMG was peak automotive absurdity. A hand-built twin-turbo V8 making 571 hp in a vehicle with the aerodynamics of a garden shed. The seven-speed automatic launched 2.5 tonnes to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds. Side-exit exhausts burbled on overrun. The interior had diamond-stitched leather and a Harman Kardon system. The chassis had three locking differentials and a ladder frame. Nothing about this car made sense. Everything about it was magnificent.
