About the GT-R

Nissan dropped the Skyline name and built a supercar. The R35 GT-R arrived in 2007 and immediately embarrassed cars costing three times as much. A 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 replaced the sacred inline-six, heresy in some circles, but 480 hp and a sub-3.5-second 0-100 time made the theological debate irrelevant. The R35 got faster every year. The NISMO pushed past 600 hp. The launch control system became the stuff of YouTube legend. And somehow, Nissan kept the same basic platform alive for nearly two decades, refining it with annual updates while the rest of the industry cycled through entire generations. It's not delicate. It's not pretty. It's a 1,740 kg sledgehammer that hits 315 km/h and doesn't care what you think about its gearbox. The GT-R proved that technology could beat displacement, and it did it at a price that made Porsche nervous.
